Requesting Direct Deposit or Debit Card Online
To change how you receive benefits you must be a claimant already receiving benefits. To receive benefits via direct deposit or debit card, login to MyBenefits, go to Manage My Profile and choose the option, “Change Benefit Payment Method.” Note: You must have a valid SC driver’s license to request direct deposit or debit card online. Otherwise, if you’re a South
Carolina resident report to the local office. Contact the Interstate Unit if you live outside South Carolina.
Direct Deposit Details A four-day account verification hold applies to direct deposit requests. Payments issued during this “hold” are paid the usual way. Changes to existing account information also face a four-day verification hold. Benefit payments should be
directly deposited within two to three business days from the payment date upon account verification.
We’ll notify you if your bank rejects your account information. In case of rejection, contact your bank, not DEW, to get the
correct direct deposit information.
Debit Card Details SCDEW prepaid debit cards buy things anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. Besides getting cash back with a purchase, claimants can get cash from ATMs and tellers at banks accepting Visa cards. No fee applies to obtaining a card but fees may
apply for certain transactions. Use your card carefully to avoid some fees. We mail pre-paid debit cards five to seven days following eligibility
certification.
